On behalf of returning war veterans with disabilities, we took the story of C.A.M.P. on the road again on June 4th 2013
Traveling by RV, we headed out on an adventurous 6000+ mile round trip, starting in Simsbury, Connecticut and going all the way to Portland, Oregon and back again by a more northerly route. To give everyone a taste of the experience of riding a recumbent trike, we are also bringing several demonstration trikes with us so that people along the way will get a chance to try out this fun and exciting new form of mobility and exercise.
Our mission for this exciting fundraising trip? To educate the general public about the pressing mobility and health challenges faced by our injured soldiers after they’ve returned from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our message is one of hope: recreational equipment such as handcycles and recumbent trikes can make a big difference in the lives of these war veterans.
As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan wind down, remember one thing: the mobility needs of our returning soldiers with disabilities have never been greater.
